The 92-year-old is said to be “concerned” Harry and future king, William, have not got their priorities in order as they lead the way in modernising the monarchy.

She has “quietly” warned both men that they must “think of the nation’s needs rather than their own”, according to a shock new biography.

In ‘Harry Conversations with the Prince’, journalist Angela Levin said: “Harry’s vision includes the young royals’ right to an ‘ordinary life’, where their duty to each other and their children may come before or alongside their duty to the nation.

“This is known to concern the Queen, who, insiders say has quietly told both Harry and William to think first of the nation’s needs rather than of their own.”

In recent years the Queen has been slowly scaling back her workload as she prepares to hand over the reins over to heir Prince Charles and the younger generation of royals.

However, the 92-year-old monarch showed this year she is not quite ready to hand everything over to her eldest son as she increased her workload between January and May.

The Queen completed more than 125 engagements – an increase of more than 25 percent from the previous year, according to an analysis of the official Court Circular.

After pledging to serve her nation for the rest her life when she was crowned Queen, the monarch is still the busiest member of the royal family.

Prince Harry has previously spoken about his plans to “modernise” the Royal Family.

The Prince said: “The monarchy is a force for good and we want to carry on the positive atmosphere that the Queen has achieved for over 60 years, but we won’t be trying to fill her boots.

“We are involved in modernising the British monarchy. We are not doing this for ourselves but for the greater good of the people.

“The Queen has been fantastic in letting us choose. She tells us to take our time.”
