Speaking at Kew gardens, the grandfather-of-three admitted to having his hands full with Kate and William’s children, George, 4, and Charlotte, 2, and newly born Prince Louis.

Charles was presented an oriental beech sapling for his beech tree collection, but joked that it would need to be protected from Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

He said: “I mustn’t let my grandchildren get hold of this.”

It is unlikely that the prince was speaking about Louis – who is too young to walk – but in a matter of time, the royal new born will soon join his older siblings in their adventurous antics.

During his visit, Charles also met with Blue Peter presenter Radzi Chinyanganya who praised the royal veteran.

Radzi said: “The Prince said he watched Blue Peter when he was a boy so that was probably the Valerie Singleton and John Noakes era.

“I was impressed he really had time for all the children and had a proper dialogue with all of them.”

Prince Charles met with his three grandchildren just this week, during new born Prince Louis’ christening at St James Place on Monday afternoon.

He and his wife, Camila, arrived for the service at The Chapel Royal dressed for the occasion, with Camila wearing a delicate cream dress by Fiona Clare and matching Locke hat.

During the event, Princess Charlotte abruptly revealed her cheeky side, sending a message to photographers.

As the royals exited The Chapel Royal of St James Palace after the ceremony, the 3-year-old princess told photographers: “You’re not coming.”

The Duchess of Cambridge even previously mentioned Charlotte’s “feisty side”, stating that she “hopes that George will keep Charlotte in order”.

Charlotte’s little brother, Prince Louis, was born in London on April 23, 2018.

His christening was presided by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby, who also led the baptism of Meghan Markle in March.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge appointed six godparents for Louis, Kensington Palace revealed on Monday.

Among those who attended the ceremony were Prince Harry, Meghan Markle along with Kate’s parents, Michael and Carole Middleton, Pippa Matthews, her husband James Matthews and Kate’s brother, James Middleton.
