The Duchess of Sussex wore a modest olive green Ralph Lauren dress and a matching hat by Stephen Miller as she entered the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace.

She wore tights again, but pictures show her clutching a purse along with a matching pair of green gloves.

Gloves are a statement piece the Queen is seen wearing for royal engagements so Meghan appears to have looked to the 92-year-old monarch for tips as she navigates her way as the newest member of the Royal Family.

The Queen wears gloves as part of her signature style and also for hygiene reasons as she shakes hands with so many people.

Meghan’s new gloves could also be a nod to the Queen, who was not there at the christening.

The 92-year-old’s absence from her great-grandson’s christening is not due to health issues, a royal source added, after speculations rose following the Queen’s absence from a special service last month, after she said she was feeling “under the weather”.

The Duchess of Sussex was accompanied by her husband Prince Harry to christening of their nephew Prince Louis.

Louis’ grandparents Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, were also present among the guests.

The new prince wore the handmade replica of the Royal Christening Robe, which is made by the Queen’s dressmaker Angela Kelly.

Following the service The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge hosted a private tea at Clarence House.

Kate’s parents Carole and Michael Middleton attended the royal event, as well as her brother and sister, along with Louis’ six godparents – who are close friends of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Prince Louis was christened by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby, who also led the baptism service of Meghan Markle in March.

Mr Welby on Twitter said: “I’m delighted and privileged to be christening Prince Louis today – a precious child made in God’s image, just as we all are. “Please join me in praying for him and his family on this special day.”
