Harry and Meghan Markle will be up against the clock to return from Ireland to London tomorrow after their flying visit to Dublin.
Harry and Meghan arrived in Dublin this afternoon for their first official visit as a royal couple.
People lined the streets to welcome the couple as they greeted the Irish Taioseach, Leo Varadkar, in the Irish capital.
But back at home England is currently in the grip of a football fever, with Gareth Southgate’s England team in with a chance to walk away with the Jules Rimet cup – over 50 years since they last won the coveted trophy.
Express.co.uk called Kensington Palace to find out Harry and Meghan’s plan of action for the big day – and whether the Duke and Duchess would touch down in England in time for the match.
A spokeswoman confirmed the couple are due to leave Ireland at 5pm on Wednesday, two hours before kick-off.
They also confirmed that Harry would land in the UK at around 6.30pm – giving him just half an hour to make it to an apt location to cheer the England squad on – hopefully to victory.
The Kensington Palace spokeswoman declined to comment to Express.co.uk on whether the couple would be flying back on a commercial or private jet.
However, details have emerged that the couple touched down in Dublin at around 5pm on Tuesday on a private chartered jet and it looks likely a similar aircraft will bring them home.
On arrival, Harry and Meghan Markle were greeted at the bottom of the plane’s steps was Britain’s Ambassador to Ireland, Robin Barnett, his partner Agnieszka Kepka and senior officials from the British embassy.
Harry and Meghan looked relaxed as they made their way down the steps and shook the hands of the waiting officials in turn, before being led to their car at the head of a motorcade.
The possible location of where the Duke and Duchess maty watch England gun for glory is still shrouded in mystery.
But it is speculated that the couple, on arrival in the UK, would fly from an airport back to Kensington Palace Gardens by helicopter, of which there is a pad in the grounds of the palace.
Either way, Harry and Meghan will make the match a top priority after their whirlwind tour of Ireland comes to an end.
The royal family are said to be football fans and have been fully behind the Three Lions’ successful World Cup campaign.
Shortly after the team defeated Sweden 2-0 in a tense Quarter Final clash, Prince William congratulated the team through the official Kensington Palace twitter.
He wrote: “You wanted to make history @England and you are doing just that.
“This has been an incredible #WorldCup run and we’ve enjoyed every minute. Football’s coming home! W.”
Both William and Harry are known for being football fans. William is an avid and life-long Aston Villa fan.
Prince Harry is said to be a fan of international matches and has often been heard talking about Arsenal.
Meanwhile, the Queen is rumoured to be a West Ham supporter. She has remained tight lipped about her club to remain neutral.
But is also rumoured that the monarch may also support Arsenal after meeting with Arsene Wenger at an event at Buckingham Palace in 2007.
