Who are godparents to Prince Louis?

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have chosen six godparents for Prince Louis, who are close friends or relatives of William and Kate.

They include Kate’s cousin, Lucy Middleton, Nicholas van Cutsem, Guy Pelly, Harry Aubrey-Fletcher, Lady Laura Meade and Hannah Carter.

Lucy Middleton

Lucy Middleton is Kate’s cousin on her father’s side and works as a solicitor.

Nicholas van Cutsem

Nicholas van Cutsem is a life-long friend of the royal family and his daughter, Florence van Cutsem was a bridesmaid at Prince Harry and Meghan’s royal wedding in May.

His niece, Grace, was a bridesmaid at Prince William and Kate’s royal wedding in 2011.

Van Cutsem is a major in the British Army and he is close friends of the Duke of Cambridge and his brother, the Duke of Sussex.

His father, Hugh van Cutsem, was friendly with Prince Charles when the two were at the University of Cambridge together.

Guy Pelly

Pelly is a British nightclub owner and is behind the celebrity hotspots Tonteria and Mahiki.

He was dubbed William and Harry’s “court jester” for his wild ways and helped organise Prince William’s stag do.

The former Stowe public schoolboy is said to have met the royal brothers through the Beaufort Hunt and married Holiday Inn heiress Lizzy Wilson in 2014.

Harry Aubrey-Fletcher

Harry Aubrey-Fletcher is the son of Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher, the 8th Baronet and Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire and the Queen’s official representative in the county.

He is a good friend of William and was photographed playing up during the Cheltenham Festival in 2013 when he jokingly pulled the duke’s ear.

Prince William was an usher when Harry married Louise Stourton, in Boroughbridge, West Yorkshire.

His wedding was the first that William and Kate attended after they announced their engagement in 2010.

Lady Laura Meade

Lady Laura Meade is married to Prince William’s close friend James Meade, who is one of Princess Charlotte’s godparents.

Mr Meade went to Eton and William and has been a good friend since school. He is the son of Olympic gold medallist equestrian Richard Meade.

James delivered the “joint best man’s speech” with Thomas van Straunbenzee at William and Kate’s wedding reception in 2011.

In 2013, Prince William played usher at his Etonian friend’s big day.

Hannah Carter

Hannah Carter is an old school friend of Kate’s, they both attended Marlborough College together.

She is married to Robert Carter, whose family are wealthy Norfolk landowners.

Both William and Kate attended their wedding in 2012.
