The 11-week-old’s christening will astonishingly be the first time the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their three children have been seen together in public.

The ceremony is set to start at 4pm.

Louis’s godparents, who are yet to be announced, will take part in the private 40-minute traditional religious ceremony.

The godparents will most likely be close friends of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Prince William’s private secretary, Miguel Head, who is set to step down from his role later this month is the bookies’ favourite to be one of the godparents.

The Prince, who is fifth in line to the throne, is set to wear the same christening gown as his brother and sister, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

The cream lace and white robe is a replica of the gown made for Queen Victoria’s eldest daughter’s christening in 1841.

The new version was designed and made by the Queen’s dresser, Angela Kelly in 2004.

According to Royal tradition, water from the River Jordan should be used for the christening.

Kensington Palace is yet to release a guest list.

However, Royal christenings are usually small family affairs.

Meghan Markle was christened in the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace in March.

Louis’s elder brother George was also christened in the Chapel Royal.

But sister Charlotte was baptised at the Church of St Mary Magdalene in Sandringham.

The Duchess of Sussex and her husband, Prince Harry are expected to attend the event along with Kate’s pregnant sister Pippa Middleton and their brother James Middleton.

When the Prince was born on 23 April, Louis Arthur Charles weighed 8lb 7oz.

Two days after he was born, William said he was sleeping “reasonably well so far, so he’s behaving himself, which is good”.

Louis is the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh’s sixth great-grandchild.
