The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, will perform the acclaimed task of christening the newest addition to the Cambridge family.

The holyman has an array of royal christenings under his belt including Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, in the run-up to her royal wedding to Prince Harry in Windsor, Berkshire, on May 19.

The 62-year-old also baptised Prince George in the very same chapel, a royal establishment that has played host to many events and celebrations across generations including Queen Victoria and Prince Albert’s wedding in 1840.

Kensington Palace is yet to release the exclusive guest list for the christening, which will be the first time Prince William and Kate, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince George and Princess Charlotte will be seen as a family of five.

Newlyweds Prince Harry and American wife Meghan are also likely to attend.

The Queen is also likely to make an appearance, though her husband, 96-year-old Prince Philip may not after retiring from all royal duties in May 2017.

However, the Duke of Edinburgh has made the odd appearance here and there to support the Queen and the christening of his great-grandchild could see him out in public.

Louis’ godparents will be announced during the 40-minute ceremony, which in the past has seen the Cambridges opt for close friends and confidantes for the roles of godmother and godfather.

Prince George, for example, has seven godparents which are Zara Tindall, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, Oliver Baker, Emilia Jardine-Paterson, Earl Grosvenor, Julia Samuel and William van Cutsem.

Princess Charlotte has five godparents who are Laura Fellowes, Adam Middleton, Thomas van Straubenzee, James Meade and Sophie Carter.

With Louis however, there is much speculation Prince William and Kate will select William’s trusted private secretary Miguel Head as godfather.

For the role of godmother, experts predict they may opt for one of William’s cousins, Peter Phillips, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie or Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor in a move that would no doubt delight the Queen.

Louis was born in the private Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London, on April 23, St George’s Day.

He weighed 8lbs 7oz.

Tomorrow, he will be welcomed into the Christian faith dressed in a replica of the intricate lace and satin robe made for Queen Victoria’s eldest daughter in 1841.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte wore the same garment for their baptisms.
