The future king was greeted by staff and patients at Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan to mark the national health services milestone on his fourth day in Wales. 

The 69-year-old was without his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, who has travelled back to London a day earlier to attend the 50th Anniversary of the Man Booker Prize at Buckingham Palace.

Prince Charles greeted by schoolchildren from Beaufort Hill Primary School’s choir and First Minister Carwyn Jones.

Later, he will enjoy a garden people to celebrate the NHS’ 70th birthday, where he will unveil a plaque and cut a cake to mark the anniversary. 

He will then will tour the Tretower Court medieval manor house in Crickhowell, where he will meet staff, volunteers and supporters.

The busy foruth day will also see Prince Charles visit the restored former Corn Exchange in the market town of Crickhowell.

He will meet the local group who helped find a new use for the building and the newly opened businesses and flats.
