The newly appointed Duchess of Sussex has made seven royal appearances since her nuptials and for the past six weeks, Meghan’s fashion choices have gone under fire.

In particular, the blue and white Oscar de la Renta dress Meghan wore on June 17 for the wedding of Prince Harry’s cousin sparked a lot of public disappointment online.

British designer Caroline Castigliano defended the Duchess and claimed Royal life has already started changing her.

She said: “The royal family is a firm and the protocol is huge.

“We’re seeing everything about Meghan change.

“It’s very difficult when you’re 36 to do this. It’s far easier when you’re in your early 20s and they can mould and adapt you.

Ms Castigliano noted: “It’s a much bigger job for Meghan.

“It must be unbelievably difficult that Meghan was a working woman and had her own style.”

Prior the wedding on May 19 at St George’s Chapel in Windsor, the Duchess was often seen wearing dark wash denim, flared black trousers and sleek black dresses.

Ms Castigliano pointed out that at the moment, Meghan is trying to copy her sister-in-law, the Duchess of Cambridge.

She said: “At the moment, she’s really dressing like Kate.

“At this stage, Kate is probably giving her tons of advice on how to fit in.”

Sources revealed that Kate’s assistant, Natasha Archer, has been calling in clothes from designers for Meghan until she hires an assistant of her own.

One of the biggest fashion changes Meghan has undergone has clearly been her colour choice.

The Duchess of Sussex has almost exclusively worn either pink or white since marrying her Prince.

The British designer claimed the reason for Meghan’s wardrobe quickly moving on the other side of the colour scale is Queen Elizabeth.

Ms Castigliano explained: “If you’re going to be seen with the Queen, who wears bright colours, then this neutral palette she’s been sticking to is really a measure of respect.

“This much more demure, classic look is absolutely right on key to what she needs to fit in with the family.”

British etiquette expert William Hanson also agreed.

He said: “At events with the Queen, she lets Her Majesty shine.

“The Queen is top of the bill.

“Meghan is on the bill, not top of the bill.”
