It’s already been a busy year for Prince William and his wife, Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, who welcomed their third child, Prince Louis, into the world on April 23.

Not to mention William’s important role as best man at his younger brother Prince Harry’s Royal Wedding to Meghan Markle last month.

Today Prince William, the second in line to the throne, is in Northampton to attend the opening ceremony of the Defence and National Rehabilitation Centre.

And later this week, the duke will embark on a tour of the Middle East, visiting Israel, Jordan and the Occupied Palestinian Territories from June 24 to June 28.

A loving husband, father-of-three, and the nation’s future king, William has always remained committed to his life in the public eye.

Speaking about the day he finds himself on the throne, William said: “I take each step at it comes and it’s good when you’ve got good examples to follow.

“And hopefully I can try and do her some sort of justice.”

Born on June 21, 1982, the eldest son of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana was second in the line of succession.

Prince William weighed in at 7lb 1 1/2oz when he was born at precisely 9.03pm on at St Mary’s Hospital in London.

On August 4, he was christened Prince William Arthur Philip Louis by the Archbishop of Canterbury in the Music Room at Buckingham Palace. It was also Queen Elizabeth’s 82nd birthday.

Just two years later, on September 15, 1984, he welcomed to the world his younger brother Prince Harry.

The young Prince followed in the footsteps of many students across the world, and took a gap year before heading to St Andrews University in Scotland.

It was there that William met his wife-to-be, Kate Middleton, in 2011.

The nation rejoiced when they announced their engagement in November 2010, with William proposing to Kate with a beautiful 12-carat sapphire ring, which had once belonged to his late mother, Princess Diana.

Just five months later the couple were married in a spectacular wedding ceremony at the Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011 and became the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – a wedding present from the Queen.

Now the hands-on parents of a growing brood, with three children under the age of five, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have come along way since they were fresh-faced students at St Andrews.
