Publix Covid Vaccine Registration: Walk in or schedule an appointment online

All Publix Pharmacy locations will provide COVID-19 vaccinations to walk-in customers starting Monday, another indication that inoculations are becoming more easily available to all who want them.

Customers who are 18 and older will have a choice of the two-dose Moderna and one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccines. Those interested may still also schedule their shots online, something the supermarket chain is encouraging people to do.

Walk-in customers should check with their local stores to make sure they have supplies on hand on any given day.

Vaccinations are free, though customers with health insurance should bring their cards, according to Publix spokeswoman Maria Brous. Those on Medicare should bring their red, white and blue Medicare Part B cards. Customers should also have their driver’s licenses and Social Security numbers on hand.

Publix has become one of the largest distributors of COVID-19 vaccines and was the first retail chain in Florida to provide them.

Gov. Ron DeSantis said he chose Publix because the company operates so many stores, making them a more convenient site for seniors who may have trouble getting to designated Department of Health sites.

“So that’s a difference between a centralized site where you try to get as many people through, which logistically can be difficult,” DeSantis said during a January news conference in Cape Coral announcing the expanded vaccination role for Publix.
