The first Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine has been delivered in the UK.

Dialysis patient Brian Pinker, 82, has become the first person to be vaccinated with the new Covid-19 jab after getting the dose at Oxford University Hospital, NHS England said.

Six hospitals in England will administer the first of around 530,000 doses of the newly approved vaccine that Britain has ready to go.

The coronavirus immunisation programme will be expanded to hundreds of other British sites in the coming days, with the Government hoping it will deliver tens of millions of doses within months.

But Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that tougher measures will be announced soon to control the coronavirus.
