Coronavirus UK Update: Police Scotland staff at Glasgow building test positive for Covid

Police say they have identified the car being used by anti-testing protesters who filmed themselves shouting at pupils and harassing a teacher at a Liverpool school.

Officers have launched an investigation after a small group of people staged a mini demonstration outside Calderstones School on Monday.

They were seen, in their own video footage which they uploaded to YouTube, using a megaphone to shout at children and confront a member of the armed forces and the school’s headteacher.

A man can be heard repeatedly stating “We are live”, before asking one member of the military: “What are you doing at the school, here?”

The man then repeatedly demands answers and an interview with the soldier.

A woman can be heard saying: “Youse [sic] are intimidating the kids,” but an overwhelming majority of those who have seen the footage have accused the protesters of using intimidating behaviour.

– Liverpool’s mass testing latest

More than 44,000 people have come forward to be tested for coronavirus as part of Liverpool’s mass testing operation.

Mayor Joe Anderson has confirmed today that the total number of new Lateral Flow tests carried out since the pilot scheme began in the city on Friday lunchtime is 44,233.

And he said that of that number, 249 people have been found to be positive for coronavirus.

That is 249 people who did not have symptoms and who otherwise would have been unlikely to get tested.

The city leader also gave some information on when people should get tested for a second time.

On twitter he said: “Busy at all of our testing centres today, total tested as of 12.00 pm today 44,233. 220 positive.

“Please get tested and if you have thank you. Please wait a week and get tested again let’s do it for our family our community and our City.”
