A London Underground driver has tested positive for coronavirus.

This is the second Transport for London employee to test positive for the virus, the previous being a traffic controller at Southwark station.

Despite this Public Health England has not raised any concerns about public transport.

However, transport bosses are testing a long-lasting disinfectant as part of a new Tube cleaning regime.

The spray, already used in hospitals, is claimed to offer anti-viral protection for up to 30 days.

At around 2pm on Friday, March 13, the Department of Health and Social Care announced that the number of cases in the UK has increased by 208 since Thursday. This now brings the total confirmed cases to 798.

Another update will be given this afternoon as to where the new cases have been confirmed.
