Cristiano Ronaldo broke down in a flood of tears as Piers Morgan showed him never-before-seen footage of his late father praising his son.
Jose Dinis Aveiro died of liver failure in September 2005 at the age of 52 following a battle with alcoholism.
Ronaldo was just 20 years old at the time and still in the process of developing into a top player under Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.
Ferguson allowed Ronaldo to miss a Champions League match in order to be with his dying father in a London hospital – a compassionate gesture the Portuguese superstar has always been immensely grateful for.
