The 92-year-old monarch was delivering her 2017 Christmas message when the noisy animal forces Her Majesty to start again.

The hilarious exchange has been revealed in the new ITV documentary Queen of the World, which looks at the monarch’s role as head of the Commonwealth.

Well-known for her professionalism, the Queen is in the middle of reading the speech when a member of staff asks her to “redo it from the top”.

The monarch replies: “From the top of the second page?”

The team member says: “From the very start.”

Shocked, the Queen asks: “You want the whole thing again?”

The member of staff says: “If possible.”

The episode prompts the Queen – a lover of horses and dogs – to start giggling.

Also featuring Meghan Markle, who married Prince Harry in May, the documentary will be broadcast on Tuesday evening.

Clips show the Duchess of Sussex speaking about her wedding day as she admires her dress and veil.

She says: “It was important for me, especially now being a part of the Royal Family, to have all 53 of the Commonwealth countries incorporated, and I knew that it would be a fun surprise as well for my now husband, who didn’t know, and he was really over the moon to find out that I would make this choice for our day together.

“And I think the other members of the family had a similar reaction, and just appreciation for the fact that we understand how important this is for us and the role that we play, and the work that we’re going to continue to do within the Commonwealth countries.”

Next month Harry and Meghan will complete their first Commonwealth tour, visiting Australia, New Zealand, Tonga and Fiji.

Speaking about the upcoming trip, Meghan says: “You know, it’s such an exciting time for us, especially with Harry’s role as Youth Ambassador for the Commonwealth and the travel that we intend to do, to do work specifically in all those different territories.

“Which is why it was so important to have some sort of example of that present with us on the (wedding) day, 53 countries as well, my goodness, It’ll keep us busy.”

Queen of the World is on ITV at 9.15pm on Tuesday.
