The mother-of-two and Prince Andrew’s ex-wife took to Instagram on Wednesday night to offer her “deepest sympathy” to those affected by the tragedy, which has killed at least 81 people and injured more than 187.

She posted a photograph of herself alongside Greek politician Elena Kountoura, writing: “In deepest sympathy to all families in the tragedy of the fires in Greece.

“Thank you to #elenakountoura, the Greek people and services who are working tirelessly in such difficult circumstances”.

Sarah Ferguson, 58, holidayed in Greece with supermodel Kate Moss back in 2016.

Fans of the duchess, also known as Fergie, quickly praised Sarah and thanked her for her support.

One simply said: “You’re an amazing woman”.

While another said: “I admire you so much.. Duchess of York.”

Another added: “Thank you for your support for my country!”

And another fan posted: “Duchess of York, you are an amazing woman. Such a humanitarian and role model.

“You are still Fergie to the world, loved and admired for your strengths and loyalty to those in suffering and less fortunate and still loved by so many here in Australia.”

The wildfire in Greece has caused devastation in Mati Village and across Greece since Monday afternoon.

Locals and tourists have been forced to to flee their homes and hotels, with many sheltering on the beaches nearby, as the worst wildfire in 11 years took hold.

Fleeing residents and tourists escaped resorts and homes as the flames blazed through the Rafina region of Greece, 18 miles from Athens.

It has left at least 81 people dead and 187 injured as raging wildfires spread across Greece, causing hundreds of residents to flee for their lives.
