Eugenie, daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, has invited more people than the splendid St George’s Chapel in Windsor can actually hold, it was revealed.

The princess will have more than 850 people attending her wedding, despite the church having only 800 seats, leading someone to hope not all of the guests will be able to make it, the Mail on Sunday claimed.

A source told the Sunday newspaper: “The wedding itself is going to be huge and they are hoping quite a few of the people they’ve invited won’t be able to come because of the capacity issue.”

Eugenie’s guest list is not only far longer than Meghan and Harry’s one, who decided to invite 600 people on May 19, but also features a number of celebrities that didn’t attend the spring Royal Wedding.

Among them, there are Robbie and Ayda Williams, with their five-year-old daughter as one of the flower girls.

As the two weddings take place just months apart and will be celebrated in the same chapel, royal watchers have already started drawing comparisons between the two big days.

The wedding of Eugenie, 28, who is set to get married on October 12, will cost around £2million, a smaller bill than the eye-watering one issued for Harry and Meghan, which amounted to £45million.

But the royals are not holding back on celebrations for their second big wedding of 2018.

After the 11am ceremony, the loved-up pair will make a short carriage procession similar to the one made by newlyweds Meghan and Harry.

Arriving at St George’s Hall, the Queen and Andrew, Duke of York, will host a traditional wedding breakfast.

Celebrations will continue throughout the day, with 400 people set to head to a champagne evening party at the Yorks’ family home, the Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park.

There, Sarah and Andrew will host a three-course dinner organised by upmarket catering firm Bentley’s, costing a whopping £100,000.

The Royal Lodge could also become the setting for a private concert, taking things up a celebrity notch from Meghan and Eugenie’s weddings, according to a source.

Speaking to the Mail on Sunday, they said: “There are rumours Ellie Goulding and Robbie Williams will sing.”

Many of the guests who made it to Meghan’s Royal Wedding will also attend Eugenie’s.

Among them, there are celebrities like George and Amal Clooney and David and Victoria Beckham.

But most important guests will be the many senior royals set to attend, including Prince Philip, despite his years-long feud with the mother-of-the-bride.

Despite the Duke of Edinburgh being unable to stand up for very long because he underwent a hip operation earlier this year, a royal insider said he doesn’t want to miss Eugenie’s big day.

But his presence makes Sarah, also known as Fergie, “very nervous”.

The source said: “He absolutely adores Eugenie.

“He can’t stand up for very long, which makes church services hard work, and he can’t stand Fergie, but he wants to see Eugenie married and, if he is fit enough to be there, he will be there.

“It won’t be easy. Philip and Sarah will be in relatively close proximity to each other and Sarah’s very nervous about it.

“People have been giving her some friendly advice.

“As long as she doesn’t go over the top on the day, it should all be fine.”
