When the hit musical ended on Wednesday evening, August 29, Prince Harry sang the start of a Hamilton song which was once performed by his ancestor King George III, the royal’s sixth- great-grandfather.

The Duke of Sussex began to sing “You say..” from the song ‘You’ll Be Back’ before he stopped and said to the cast “You did try, but I said no”.

The cast and audience clearly enjoyed Prince Harry’s singing and erupted into applause and laughter when he broke out into song.

The newlywed royals sat with the audience in the royal circle at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London for the popular show.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex hosted the gala performance for the charity Sentebale, which Prince Harry founded.

The royals watched the production alongside the show’s creator Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Before the show began, Mr Miranda said it would be “fun and surreal” to see the royals watch the performance of King George III.

He said: “You don’t get that every day. You get heads of state, we’ve had some popular folks come see our show but you don’t often get a direct descendent of one of your main characters.

“That’s very exciting and I’m very curious to see their reception.”

Joining Harry on stage afterwards, Mr Miranda said: “Smash cut to 2018 I’m sitting next to his sixth-great grandson. Ladies and gentlemen, the Duke of Sussex.”

The event raised £300,000, which will be used to improve the lives of children affected by HIV in Africa.

The hip-hop musical is about the life of the American founding father, Alexander Hamilton, and his rise from poverty to power.

Meghan looked stunning in a short £327 Judith and Charles tuxedo dress for the show.

She had already seen the show in Broadway, New York with her friend Priyanka Chopra.
