Details have not been released of the gift US President Donald Trump gave Mrs May but it was believed to be a historic artefact.

Mr Trump and the First Lady flew into the UK on Thursday afternoon, before joining the Prime Minister and her husband, as well as around 150 other ministers and business leaders, for dinner at Blenheim Palace.

The US President and his wife then met the Queen for afternoon tea at Windsor Castle on Friday afternoon.

Following her meeting with the Queen, the First Lady tweeted: “It was an honour to meet and have tea with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll.

“@POTUS and I enjoyed the visit and her company very much!”

On Friday, Mrs Trump, accompanied by Mr May, visited the Royal Hospital chelsea Hospital.

On arrival, she met Lieutenant Colonel Nicky Mott, hospital CEO Gary Lashko and Chelsea pensioners John Riley, Alan Collins and Marjorie Cole.

The First Lady also made poppies with local school children and played traditional British summertime game bowls four times with Mr May on the bowling green at the hospital.

J Floris is most famously the Queen’s perfumer and is the oldest English retailer of fragrance and toiletries – still family owned and run by 8th and 9th generations of the family.

The first Royal Warrant granted to J Floris was in 1820 as ‘Smooth Pointed Comb-makers’ to the then King George IV soon after his accession.

Notable customers include Florence Nightingale, who wrote a letter on July 25, 1863 thanking Mr Floris for a fragrance.

Floris also created a bespoke creation of unisex fragrance for the wedding of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry on May 19.
