The young princess is even predicted to outstrip her older brother and future King Prince George, who only has a hypothetical net worth over his lifetime of £2.7billion.

According to a prediction by Reader’s Digest, the Princess exerts the “Charlotte effect” which has led to her clothes selling out in British stores in a matter of hours.

Princess Charlotte is deemed a fashion icon and exerts a huge influence over the retail industry like her mother the Duchess of Cambridge.

When she wore a pastel yellow John Lewis cardigan in a Kensington Palace Instagram photo to mark her second birthday, the item sold out in 24 hours.

Emma Davison, co-founder of Olivier Baby & Kids clothing company, experienced the “Charlotte effect” first-hand after the Princess was pictured wearing one of her designs.

Speaking to the Telegraph, she said: “We were thrilled when Princess Charlotte was photographed wearing our Rose Stitch Cardigan in her official first birthday pictures.

“The effects have been hugely positive for a growing company like ours and have helped to establish our customer base all over the world.

“Following the photographs we saw our international orders increase significantly, particularly from America and China and the Rose Stitch Cardigan remains our best-selling cardigan.”

The young princess exerts a similar effect as her mother, whose influence is worth an estimated £1.5billion due to her regular appearances in outfits by British designers including Jenny Packham and Burberry.

Princess Charlotte’s potential boost to the British economy far outweighs the “Prince George effect”, whose sartorial choices have less impact on the UK fashion industry.

The young Royals will nevertheless not be able to access any of their hypothetical net worths.

As both Princess Charlotte and Prince George have not received any inheritance and have not conducted any work, their net worths are calculated by their hypothetical value to the British economy.

In comparison, the Duchess of Cambridge’s net worth is estimated at £7.6million based on her stake in her family’s party company Party Pieces.

Prince William and Prince Harry have an estimated net worth of £30.5million each.

They received £13million in trust and estate on their 30th birthdays, which was left to them by their late mother, Princess Diana.
