The eldest daughter of the Duke of York was born on August 8, 1988 at The Portland Hospital in London as Princess Beatrice Elizabeth Mary of York – her middle names honour the Queen’s full name.

She is the first born of Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York, who are now divorced, and was educated at Upton House School in Berkshire, before she attended Coworth Park School.

Princess Beatrice went on to St George’s School in Ascot from 2000 and during her final year she was Head Girl.

She studied at the University of Goldsmiths College in September 2008 and graduated in 2011 with a 2:1 in History and History of Ideas.

Princess Beatrice is eighth in line to the throne and the Queen’s fifth eldest grandchild.

The 30-year-old spoke candidly about growing up in the spotlight in an interview with British Vogue with her sister Princess Eugenie recently.

She said: “It’s hard to navigate situations like these because there is no precedent, there is no protocol.

“We are the first: we are young women trying to build careers and have personal lives, and we’re also princesses and doing all of this int he public eye.

“We want to show people who we are as working, young, royal women, but also not to be afraid of putting ourselves out there.

“Nowadays it’s so easy to recoil when you see a perfect image on Instagram – but it’s important that it’s real. We’re real.”

Princess Beatrice has been confirmed as maid of honour to younger sister Princess Eugenie at her wedding to Jack Brooksbank in October.

She told British Vogue: “Euge is amazing. She’s a very modern bride.”

Beatrice has spent a lot of her time working for charities and doing voluntary work, and a lot of her charity work focused around children’s welfare and education.

The princess is dyslexic and spends time working with charities involved with dyslexia and learning difficulties.

She has worked as a researched for her mother’s charity, Children in Crisis, which aims to educate children and women from some of the poorest countries.

In 2010, she became the first member of the royal family to complete the London Marathon, running with friends to raise money as part of ‘Team Caterpillar’ which supports a number of charities.

The 30-year-old and her sister are not official working royals.

Beatrice previously worked for an investment firm, before becoming an international analyst at Sony Pictures.

She currently works as the vice president of partnerships and strategy at US-based company Afiniti.
