Prince William, who is currently at Balmoral with his wife and their three children on a visit to see the Queen, even calls the scar his “Harry Potter scar”.

But how did the Duke of Cambridge, 36, get the scar on his temple?

It transpires he was struck with a golf club at the age of 13 when a friend thwacked him over the head with a seven-iron.

Talking about the scar, in a 2009 interview Prince William said: “I call it my Harry Potter scar because it glows sometimes and some people notice it — other times they don’t notice it at all.

“I got hit by a golf club when I was playing golf with a friend of mine.

“We were on a putting green and the next thing you know there was a seven-iron and it came out of nowhere and it hit me in the head.”

While Kate, 36, often tries to obscure her scar from view by tying her hair up, William is not afraid to show his off and embrace it.

He was photographed in January earlier this year pointing to his scar when he met a young patient during a visit to Evelina London Children’s Hospital.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were joined by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at the Queen’s Balmoral estate in Scotland where young 5-year-old Prince George had his first taste of a royal tradition, grouse-hunting.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have already enjoyed a Scottish retreat earlier in the summer, joining Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall at the remote Castle of Mey in Scotland.

On Friday, the Duchess of Cambridge took George to watch his father, Prince William, shoot down grouse in the hills, in the prince’s first ever experience watching his older relatives grouse shooting.

The milestone event was followed by lunch with the Queen, Prince Charles, Prince Edward, Sophie the Countess of Wessex, and their children, Lady Louise Windsor and James, Viscount Severn later in the afternoon.

Princess Anne, Zara and Mike Tindall were also present, joining the members of the royal family for a Friday lunch.

The Queen, 92, was spotted driving herself to the venue in a Range Rover.

Prince George will return to school next month when he will officially commence year 1 at Thomas’s Battersea.

George, who is third-in-line to the throne, will be taking classes in science, English and history and also religious studies where students will read the Bible as well as learn to appreciate British values.

The young prince will also be brushing up on his French, with 35 minutes classes language classes week.
