The 92-year-old monarch usually spends her summers in the Scottish retreat, although this year she will be staying at the seven-bedroom Craigowan Lodge instead of the castle.

Tourists are still visiting the popular attraction until the end of this month when it will officially close to visitors.

The Lodge is situated one mile from the castle, while the Queen has experienced the same timetable clash before so should be used to any upheaval.

Is Prince Philip with the Queen in Balmoral today?

Prince Philip, 97, has not joined the Queen in the Scottish hideaway and is remaining at his cottage in Sandringham for the next few weeks.

The majestic norfolk country estate is where the Duke of Edinburgh has spent the majority of his time since his retirement from public life in 2017.

Other Royal Family members are expected to soon join the Queen at Balmoral, which is her favourite residence of all her royal properties.

Princess Eugenie said during ITV’s documentary Our Queen At Ninety: “I think Granny is the most happy there. I think she really, really loves the Highlands.”

When was the last time Prince Philip was seen with the Queen?

The Duke has been barely seen by the public in recent months and was notably absent at the Buckingham Palace flyover to celebrate the RAF’s 100th anniversary earlier this month.

He was last seen at the Queen’s side on June 24 when the two attended the Royal Windsor Cup polo patch in Egham.

Despite cutting a frail figure, the Duke seemed in good spirits and could be seen laughing and joking with his wife.

There had been fears earlier in the year that Prince Philip would be unable to attend his grandson Prince Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle.

He had been recovering from a hip replacement at the time.

But to the delight of royal watchers, the Duke was able to walk behind the Queen as he entered St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.
