Standing with his hands behind his back against a wall in the garden of his grandfather Prince Charles’s London home, the young royal was photographed after his brother Prince Louis’s christening on July 9.

The shot was taken by Matt Porteous, who also captured a smiling Louis on camera as his mother Kate cradled him in her arms following the ceremony at St James’s Palace.

George is wearing the same £42 Amaia Kids shirt that he wore for Trooping the Colour last month.

The future king will celebrate his big day with his parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, on the exclusive Caribbean isle of Mustique.

William and Kate flew to the island on Monday and will be sharing the occasion with Kate’s parents, Michael and Carole Middleton, her sister Pippa and her husband James Matthews.

A few months after his last birthday, George experienced his first day at school with William but without mother Kate, who was suffering from severe morning sickness during her pregnancy with Louis.

The Duke managed his solo parenting duties well and later said: “There was one other parent who had more of an issue with their children – so I was quite pleased I wasn’t the only one.”

George has just completed his first year at Thomas’s Battersea in south London.

He played a sheep in the school Christmas nativity play and is said to love helicopters, flying and all things police-related.

When Louis was born in April, he joined his younger sister Princess Charlotte at the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital as they visited their new brother with their father.

Last month, George and his family joined the Queen and other royals on Buckingham Palace’s balcony as the monarch’s official birthday celebrations drew to a close with the traditional fly-past of aircraft.

The young prince was seen playing up with his cousin Savannah Phillips, seven, who jokingly put her hand over his mouth.

Last week, a previously unseen picture of George being cradled by Prince Charles was included in an exhibition to mark the heir to the throne’s 70th birthday in November.

Jersey-based Mr Porteous previously photographed George on his third birthday at Anmer Hall in Norfolk, where he was pictured playing with the family dog, Lupo.
