It came after the Meghan Markle and Prince Harry visited a London exhibition on Nelson Mandela on Tuesday. Ms Grant tweeted: “Glad you have so much time to gallivant around paying tribute to others while ignoring your own father!

“How can you be so cold and look in the mirror? Harry? I guess I was right.” Ms Grant added: “Act like a humanitarian act like a woman! If our father dies I’m holding you responsible, Meg.”

The extraordinary attack came after it was revealed that heart problems had prevented Thomas Markle, 74, from attending Meghan’s wedding.

Ms Grant’s attack continued: “My father is not an embarrassment for loving his daughter! The royals are an embarrassment for being so cold. You should be ashamed of yourselves.”

Earlier this week, Mr Markle claimed he had not heard from his daughter in two months and feared he was being frozen out over staged paparazzi photos.

He said: “I think she’s under too much pressure. My thing about my daughter now is I think she’s terrified. I’ve seen her smiles for years. I know her smile. I don’t like the one I’m seeing now.”

Mr Markle said he was worried about the influence the royals were having on her and that calls to his daughter had gone unanswered.

The Duchess of Sussex has had a packed schedule of royal family duties since her wedding in May including Trooping the Colour, a trip to Ireland with her husband and her first official outing with the Queen.

On Saturday, she was seen laughing and chatting with her sister-in-law, the Duchess of Cambridge, at Wimbledon.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were also described as looking “very happy” when they dined at a Dublin restaurant four days ago.

Mr Markle also revealed that he had plans to come to England, whether or not his daughter approved.

“I don’t care whether she is p***** off at me or not,” he said.

“I’m not going to wave flags and make a fool of myself.”

The Duchess of Sussex’s mother Doria was the only family member to attend the Royal wedding.

Mr Markle had been expected to walk his daughter down the aisle, but had to pull out at the last minute after suffering from a heart attack.

He had also been embarrassed after it was revealed a series of paparazzi shots – including ones of him exercising and being fitted for a suit – had been staged.

And while the newlyweds forgave him for the stunt, and phoned him the day after the wedding, he claims to have not heard from them since.
