Meghan was out in London to attend the opening of a Pacific art exhibition titled Oceania.

The collection is being held at the Royal Academy of Art in London’s Piccadilly, and features some 200 artefacts from Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia.

The Duchess of Sussex dazzled in a black Givenchy dress with sheer sleeves, paired with her go-to black Aquazzura pumps.

The event is a milestone for Meghan, as its the first time she’s heading out into public without another member of the Royal Family there with her.

According to Hello! there is a special reason for this date as an important first for Meghan.

September 25 is significant as it marks the one year anniversary of Meghan and Harry’s outing to the Invictus Games in Toronto.

This was the very first time the couple stepped out together, taking their romance public after a year of dating privately.

That was the day Meghan’s life changed forever as she was thrust into the spotlight on a global scale.

Just two months later, the couple were engaged.

And now, exactly one year on from the Invictus Games, Meghan has taken another first step, as she finds her feet as a royal in her own right.

Up next, Meghan and Harry will undertake their first major overseas trip as a couple.

The loved-up duo will visit Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga in October, with the trip centring around the Invictus Games once again.

The visit will take place between October 16 and 31.

Kensington Palace said the programme of the trip “will focus on youth leadership, environmental and conservation efforts – including the dedication of several new Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy projects – and the recovery and rehabilitation of servicemen and women through the Invictus Games Sydney 2018.”

The games will see more than 500 veterans from 18 nations competing in 11 sports from October 20 to 27.

The four Commonwealth countries will host the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge after Harry was appointed Commonwealth youth ambassador in April.

Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull previously welcomed the news of the royal couple’s visit to Australia, and stated Australians will be excited to greet them.

He said: “The Duke of Sussex has become a champion for war veterans around the world, including in Australia.

“His attendance, alongside the Duchess of Sussex, will be a wonderful highlight for the more than 500 competitors and thousands of spectators.”

The couple are also expected to use the opportunity to catch up with some of Meghan’s friends who live in Australia, including former Suits co-stars Gabriel Macht and wife Jacinda Barrett.
