Long before she began dating royalty, Meghan, who turned 37 today, was a little known actress in LA keen to land a secure acting job.
Her bid for stardom would see Meghan star in a range of raunchy shoots and the struggling actress was even a briefcase girl in the US version of Deal or No Deal, which saw her dressed in skimpy red dress.
But the US starlet finally struck gold when she landed a role in Suits, filmed in Canada’s Toronto.
And when the American signed her contract for the US legal drama in 2011, little did she know that seven years later her life would be transformed.
It was this starring role that would begin Meghan’s journey into her new role as the Duchess of Sussex.
In Toronto Meghan would be thrown in the spotlight, mixing in the same circles as Canada’s elite, which would eventually lead her to prince.
The couple first got to know each other over a bottle of rose at Soho House in London’s Dean Street after being matched by mutual friends.
And after several dates, Harry invited the American actress to join him on holiday in Botswana, where their romance blossomed.
In barely two years of meeting, the pair were engaged and are now happily married.
And today she marks a very special milestone – her very first birthday as a member of the Royal Family.
Harry and Meghan’s whirlwind romance has gone on to break all odds, exceptions and stereotypes of the Royal Family.

But Harry insists the “stars war aligned” when he met Meghan and their relationship has gone on to capture the attention of millions, not just in the UK, but also across the pond in the US, and the world.
Meghan was engaged to producer Trevor Engelson in 2010 and the pair married in Jamaica the year later.
The pair divorced in August 2013, citing irreconcilable differences.
Meghan met Mr Engelson, the then 28-year-old was already a film producer and agent while she was a 23-year-old actress fresh out of theatre school.
They quickly moved in together in Los Angeles and she started getting more parts and auditions. She appeared on Deal Or No Deal as a suitcase girl and went on loads of casting calls.
The loved-up pair dated for six years before getting married in a small ceremony at a Jamaican beach resort in front of 100 guests on September 10, 2011.
He was not only her lover but also her mentor, say people close to them.
