Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were looking deeply in love when they visited Dublin for their first official overseas tour together in July. They also looked wildly in love when they attended the Sentebale Polo Cup at Windsor on July 26, where they were captured gazing into each other’s eyes.

With the royal couple taking a break from the spotlight this summer, Meghan, 37, and Harry, 33, are said to have enjoyed a break at a Scottish castle with Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall.

The group are said to have enjoyed a stay at Castle of Mey in Caithness, situated on the northern coast of the country which dates back to the 16th century.

A source told Harper’s Baazar: “The visit happened the day after their visit to the polo.

“They stayed for five days and it was Prince Charles hosting them.”

“During the days they took long hikes along the coast (which looks out over John o’ Groats) and the evenings were spent at the castle where a fleet of staff catered to their every whim.

“They will have no doubt enjoyed some wine from the castle’s very extensive collection.”

The castle holds particular significance for Harry and Meghan – and also Charles.

The castle dates back to the 16th century and it came under royal ownership when the Queen Mother bought the property in 1952.

She restored the estate’s 30-acre parkland and changed its name from Barogill Castle to the Castle of Mey.

According to the castle’s official website, Prince Charles regularly visits the property and supports the Castle of Mey trust.

Royal correspondent Omid Scobie told Harper’s Baazar: “Meghan has developed a warm and close relationship with both Charles and Camilla.

“She particularly adores her father-in-law, who has been incredibly supportive during an eventful and testing few months.

“They’re the perfect parents-in-law and the feeling is absolutely mutual!”

Meghan has developed a close friendship with her father-in-law following her May wedding.

The Prince of Wales blessed the Duchess of Sussex with the nickname “Tungsten” – which is one of the hardest metals known to man.

A source close to Buckingham Palace revealed while it might not seem like the most complimentary of nicknames, Prince Charles appreciates Meghan for being a good influence on her husband Prince Harry.

A royal expert said “Prince Charles admires Meghan for her strength and the backbone she gives Harry, who needs a tungsten-type figure in his life as he can be a bit of a softy.

“It’s become a term of endearment.”
